Opening Ceremonies: If you're wondering just a little bit about what EngFrosh is, Opening Ceremonies should answer most (if not all!) of your questions. You meet your super-stoked team for the week, and all of the people with whom you will be spending the next 8 days (and potentially the rest of your time at Carleton). Opening Ceremonies sets the tone for the rest of the week, so be sure that you're there and ready to have some fun!
White Water Rafting & Beach Day: Looking to experience an exciting adventure with all of your new friends? White water rafting** is one of the best ways to ensure a memorable EngFrosh experience! Also at the beach, team`s will participate in EngGames and have time to play sports on the courts, swim at the beach, enjoy a complimentary lunch, and have a chill day! Surprises are in store, but you need to be there to find out what they are!
** Not interested in rafting? No problem! You should still come with us to enjoy everything else the day offers with everyone!
Movie Night: After a tiring day at the beach, we launch into a unique Movie Night experience! This isn`t exactly a traditional movie viewing, but trust us, it`s even more entertaining!
Academic Orientation: Easily the best way to learn about your program and the faculty that co-ordinate it. This day is designed for students to become more comfortable with the program that they've dedicated (at least) their next four years to.
Carleton Expo: Want to know what other opportunities you'll have for extracurricular activities at Carleton? The Carleton Expo is expressly designed to show off the myriad of social and educational experiences available to you!
Billiards: Teams head over to a booked out local venue and have some good, wholesome fun shooting some pool and relaxing with everyone! There are a couple of other surprises in store, but you have to be there to find out!
Guest Speaker:You`re free to check out the special Guest Speaker Matt Roloff from Little People Big World! A meet-and-greet will be held after the talk.
Classes: Set off your student career on the right foot by attending your first classes. The first days are very important in order to both give you a taste of what you're in store for, and to acquaint yourself with your peers in a classroom environment.
Bus Tour & Board Games: Ever wondered what there is to see and do in Ottawa? Well, this is your opportunity to get a one of a kind tour of Ottawa! Frosh travel on a bus tour around Ottawa, learning of the wonders Ottawa has to offer. While the teams rotate through the bus tours, there will be a room for each team to battle it out playing their favourite board games together and getting to hangout in a casual, personable setting.
PEO/OSPE Presentation Listen to a presentation by the Professional Engineers Ontario, the body that regulates Ontario's professional engineers.
Head's Idol: Listen to your Heads (team leaders) perform their hearts out for you (for your laughing pleasure) at Head's Idol!
Hypnotist EngFrosh brings in headlining hypnotist to Bell Theatre for a magical experience!
Market SCOTT in the
Byward: If you've ever wondered what it's like to go on a scavenger hunt in an area of roughly 4 blocks, then you will love this! Remember to think outside of the box when taking part of this event.
Boat Building: This is where frosh can finally put all of their ingenuity to good use and design a boat for use in Mooney’s Bay. As easy as this sounds, remember that you'll have to put it together from scrap pieces and other odds and ends. We ask for a full technical report on top of this, so keep that in mind. Boat Building and racing is for sure one of the major highlights of Engfrosh so be sure not to miss out!!!
Pancake Breakfast: The Carleton Student Engineering Society (CSES) runs a pancake breakfast to recharge all of the frosh after the long night of building and designing.
Boat Race: After a brief safety inspection from some of the faculty members, frosh move their (hopefully) sea-worthy creations to the starting line on Mooney’s Bay. Paddles in the water and everything on the line.
Closing Ceremonies: After everyone gets cleaned up from the boat races, we regroup for the last event of the week. Here we have some final words, give out awards and trophies and put a cap on what is always the most fun event of the year with the pinky pledge.
